Artist statement

As a visual artist, I seek to explore the intersection of past and future through my art. Drawing on my childhood memories of Baltic Sea, brutalist architecture and a sense of not belonging, I am fascinated by the idea of a post-human world and the legacy we leave behind. At the same time I cherish my childhood memories and dreams and want to encapsulate them in my art, but keep myself hidden at the same time.

My work often involves the use of man-made materials, particularly those that are reflective and semi-transparent, which I believe have a distinctly futuristic quality. I have a preference for materials that are commonly considered discarded, allowing me to focus on creative reinvention.

I am drawn to the interplay of opposites, such as old-new, public-private, hidden-transparent, and digital-analog. I seek to create installations that allow materials to interact with different environments and situations, with or without human presence.

Through my art, I hope to take viewers on a journey outside of their current reality, to a place where they can experience something immersive and otherworldly. My ultimate aspiration is to inspire contemplation about the future of humanity, and what will remain after we are gone.
